A number of protests in Chicago and surrounding suburbs are planned for the weekend as demonstrations opposing federal immigration raids and President Donald Trump's polices continue.

Protests are planned in hundreds of communities across the country on Saturday, June 14.Called "No Kings Day," the rallies are being held to oppose what organizers see as Trump's power grab and focus on participants' patriotism and support for the U.S. Constitution. American flags are expected to be front and center.

Seventeen people were arrested at the Chicago ICE protest that drew thousands of people into the Loop Tuesday at the height of rush hour. Four of them face felony charges. Mayor Brandon Johnson spoke Wednesday afternoon about the city's response to the protest and their plan for the weekend,

Right-wing X user Libs of Chicago sparked the fight. They were incensed by a March ad in the New York Times in support of the anti-ICE and Trump protests across the country over the weekend. The heading reads, “No Kings,” in a clear reference to President Donald Trump.
