Herrera joined the Crew from Argentina's River Plate in August 2024 via loan that ran through June 30, 2025. The Crew and River Plate were in the process of negotiating a new deal when Herrera's first loan expired, making him unavailable for Columbus' road game against the Seattle Sounders on July 6.
