This week at CES, Google presented an early look at new software and hardware upgrades coming to Google TV devices. The new features include the integration of Gemini, Google's AI model, to the Google Assistant,

You will finally be able to speak to your Google TV like you would speak to a person. And future models will support ambient sensors.

The integration will allow you to search for media by saying “What are the latest movies from Disney?” You can also ask more general questions such as, “What are the best places to visit in Asia in the summer?

I had a chance to check out a demo of the way Google is integrating Gemini capabilities into its smart home platform via devices like the Nest Audio, Nest Hub and Nest Cameras. The main takeaway is that the conversations you have with the Google Assistant will feel more natural.

The report suggests that Gemini might arrive on Wear OS through an update to the existing Assistant app. When that happens, though, is currently unclear. The process of bringing up the assistant will likely remain the same — by using the "Hey Google" wake word or by long pressing your wearable's side button.

Google plans to incorporate its Gemini AI model into the Google TV experience later in 2025 to make interacting with your TV more intuitive and helpful.
