The Philadelphia Phillies get their lockdown closer for the bullpen in a trade with the Minnesota Twins for reliever Jhoan Duran.

Phillies fans were looking forward to seeing both when the team’s new closer, Jhoan Duran, would come on to pitch for the first time after being acquired in a July 30 trade with the Twins. The Phillies and American League Central-leading Detroit opened a three-game series at Citizens Bank Park Aug.

Phillies fans aren't the only ones excited for Jhoan Duran to come to Philadelphia, as Bryce Harper and his his teammates speak about the big trade deadline acquisition.

The Philadelphia Phillies were certainly very busy at the trade deadline this summer. They were aggressive buyers and added bullpen help as well as a key outfield bat. Jhoan Duran and Harrison Bader were acquired in separate trades with the Minnesota Twins.

The Philadelphia Phillies entered the trade deadline season with a handful ofneeds. The Phillies are essentially all-in on this season in anultra-competitive National League East where Philly is in a tight race withthe New York Mets.

Manfred: “It was an individual picking a particular way to express himself. And I don’t think you need to make more out of that than that."

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred downplayed a reported tense meeting with the Philadelphia Phillies and specifically superstar Bryce Harper while speaking with reporters on Friday in Chicago, where he was in town to announce that the 2027 MLB All-Star Game will take place in Wrigley Field.
