The U.S. embassy in Qatar emailed U.S. citizens in the Gulf country on Monday recommending that they shelter in place until further notice, triggering a slew of messages from various Doha-based institutions to employees and students while Qatar maintained that the situation was stable.

The United States Embassy in Qatar has issued a warning to Americans to “shelter in place” as tensions in the region continue to escalate. “Out of an abundance of caution, we recommend American citizens shelter in place until further notice,

"Out of an abundance of caution we recommend American citizens shelter in place until further notice," the U.S. Embassy in Doha, Qatar said.
