ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Tropical Storm Chantal has left a devastating impact on Alamance County. The storm brought heavy rain, winds and flooding to many areas of the county. In response, the county has set up a call center to answer questions about the storm and its impact. The call center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Chantal downgraded to a tropical depression over the weekend and was moving northeast through Virginia early morning Monday as flash flood threats continued near the storm, forecasters say. There have been no local impact in Louisiana.
Chantal weakened into a post-tropical cyclone after forming off the coast of Florida, bringing significant flooding to several Eastern U.S. states, according to the National Hurricane Center. Chantal became a tropical depression on Friday, bringing heavy rain to Central Florida.
