Junior Tennessee starting pitcher Liam Doyle was named the SEC Pitcher of the Year and First-Team All-SEC for his dominant campaign in the Orange & White earlier this week. On Thursday afternoon, the southpaw was named one of 15 semifinalists for National Pitcher of the Year.

Pitcher Liam Doyle, who is from New Hampshire, is projected to go as high as No. 1 or 2 in MLB Draft. Local coaches who faced him aren't surprised.

Liam Doyle was named the SEC Pitcher of the Year and also a first-team selection after a dominate season on the bump for Tennessee. Doyle is just the third Vol to receive this honor, joining Luke Hochevar (2005) and Chase Dollander (2022).

The Razorbacks face a tough challenge tonight with Vols left-hander Liam Doyle on the mound. Doyle is the probable SEC pitcher of the year, and possibly the national pitcher of the year. He enters this game with a 0.80 WHIP and .145 opponent batting average.

HOOVER, Ala. — Gavin Kilen turned to the Tennessee baseball dugout and pumped his fists. Kilen gave the Vols a lead over Texas for the second time in extra innings. While his homer was erased in the bottom half of the inning, his second effort was enough to vault Tennessee to a win, 7-5, in the battle of “UT” — that needed 12 innings to decide.

Tennessee ace Liam Doyle was one of 16 semifinalists named for the College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year Award.
