There was some controversy surrounding Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy's decision to move his wife’s flight out of Newark, but he set the record straight.

The transportation secretary admitted to redirecting his wife through New York's LaGuardia airport but said it was because of Newark’s reliability, not safety.

At a House Appropriations Committee meeting yesterday regarding the Department of Transportation’s fiscal budget for 2026, Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.) referenced Duffy’s comments. She suggested that Duffy “diverted [his] wife from Newark airport to LaGuardia out of a sense of security.”
