Linebacker Derrick Barnes said it was an easy decision to re-sign with the Detroit Lions Monday instead of testing the free-agent market.

Barnes said there was a feeling of unfinished business in Detroit, and he couldn’t ignore the desire to continue building the foundation he helped set. The linebacker is the fourth player from Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell’s first draft class to land an extension -- another aspect that pulled him back.

Free agents can't officially sign until Wednesday, but expect a couple of busy days around the league as negotiations begin.
