Pittsburgh police have seen four interim or permanent police chiefs. With Acting Chief Chris Ragland’s resignation on Tuesday, a fifth will now take the reins.
Pittsburgh’s acting police chief, Chris Ragland, is leaving the force, effective immediately. Ragland was Mayor Ed Gainey’s nominee for Pittsburgh’s next police chief. But now, he’s expected to move into the private sector with a national firm, according to a statement from the Mayor.
Acting Pittsburgh Police Chief Christopher Ragland has withdrawn his name from the nomination process, and will not become the permanent bureau police chief, sources have told KDKA-TV. Ragland has decided to leave the bureau altogether.
