The last GT2 RS made 700 hp and set lap records at every track from here to Timbuktu, and the new one should be even more impressive.

According to a new report, orders have opened. Considering the claimed delivery date, a reveal could be happening sometime this year.

Oh, it’ll be some box. The current 911 GTS deploys what Porsche calls a ‘T-hybrid’ system, which marries a newly developed 3.6-litre turbocharged flat-six with a pair of electric motors – one in the eight-speed PDK gearbox, one to spool up the turbo – for a 534bhp total.

Porsche has dropped a major hint about the return of the GT2 RS, the brand’s most powerful 911 variant, in its latest financial report. The company also confirmed the development of a new gas-powered SUV model that could enter the market by the end of the decade.
