FORT WORTH, Texas — The head of a school equipment company accused of ripping off multiple high schools pleaded guilty to defrauding Fort Worth ISD, authorities announced Friday. Virenkumar Patel, the 33-year-old owner of VR Group Promotions, was indicted in January and pleaded guilty this week to three counts of wire fraud.

In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, the Fort Worth Independent School District board selected Karen Molinar as the lone finalist for the district's next superintendent. In compliance with Texas law, the district must wait 21 days before making a final decision.
