Howlin’ Ray’s, which launched as a Los Angeles food truck in 2015 and later opened brick-and-mortar locations in L.A., Pasadena and Las Vegas, was named the No. 1 fried chicken restaurant in North America, according to the Yelp Elite Squad, a collection of active Yelp members.

Named for the area of a ship where the aircraft “live” during deployment, the restaurant describes itself as "an authentic, fast-paced, Japanese Ramen and Southern Fried Chicken joint, with a modern Navy flair," according to its website.

Howlin' Ray's, the Nashville-style hot chicken hotspot from Los Angeles, was named the best fried chicken in America by Yelp.
