The prospects of an interim trade deal between India and the United States before Washington's August 1 deadline have dimmed, as talks remain deadlocked over tariff cuts on key agricultural and dairy products,

Despite five rounds of discussions, the latest led by chief negotiator Rajesh Agrawal in Washington, the two sides have failed to narrow their differences, the news agency reported.

The pact, concluded in May after three years of stop-start talks, should boost bilateral trade by removing numerous barriers and granting each country greater market access to the other.
