Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii's launch might be lagging behind LaD: Infinite Wealth on PC. The new Like a Dragon game has fewer Steam players and reviews than its predecessor did after two days. However, historical user review data suggests that Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii's PlayStation launch is possibly ahead of Infinite Wealth.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is largely disconnected from the previous entry in the series, Infinite Wealth. However, one scene toward the end of the game seems to provide a strange answer for the lore of one of the main antagonists of the previous game, Bryce Fairchild.

However, it’s also not necessary to play Infinite Wealth first. It’s an incredibly long game, and while it does inform you of events that take place before Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, the game does a decent job of also explaining some of the things that occurred before it took place.
