Sporting CP's players have embarked on a pre-season camp with one notable name missing: Viktor Gyokeres. And the reaction to his absence hints that a move to Arsenal may be a foregone conclusion
Mikel Arteta believes Gyokeres is the ideal candidate to solve Arsenal's striker issue, with the former Coventry City forward racking up an incredible tally of 97 goals in 102 matches in two seasons in Portugal, firing Sporting CP to two league titles in the process.

Record says the Gunners have agreed to meet Sporting 's initial demands over an up front fee, but the two clubs are at odds over the Lisbon club's push for bonus paymets. Arsenal are willing to pay €70m as an outright fee, but are balking at Sporting's insistence on a further €10m in variables.
Arsenal are working to land Gyokeres and have a five-year deal prepared, subject to the clubs reaching an agreement over a fee.
Central to Gyökeres’s frustrations is a belief that he had an agreement with Sporting president Frederico Varandas to sell him for a certain fee, believed to be around €70 million (£60.4 million, $82 million). Varandas has publicly insisted Gyökeres will not be sold for such a price.
Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. The news comes just days after the Swede refused to report for pre-season with the Portuguese side. Mikel Arteta has prioritised the 27-year-old as his new No.
