Jalen Hurts is in the NFL’s concussion protocol, limiting his ability to practice for the Philadelphia Eagles' game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Jalen Hurts was officially listed as a non-participant on the Eagles’ first injury report of Week 17.

The Eagles could use another quarterback on the practice squad, and on Christmas Day, the team hosted former backup signal-caller Ian Book. The Eagles waived Book at the 53-man roster deadline last summer, naming rookie Tanner McKee as the third quarterback.

The Eagles did not practice on Christmas, and had they done so, quarterback Jalen Hurts would not have participated due to the concussion he sustained in a 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders. Hurts’ status for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys is in question while he is in the concussion protocol.
