The Cubs are dealing with multiple injury concerns as they hope to hold on to first place in the National League Central.

According to Cubs’ insider Taylor McGregor, manager Craig Counsell has confirmed Imanaga will begin throwing off a mound near the end of next week and is expected to return by sometime in the latter half of June. Chicago will, therefore, need to continue holding off a hot St. Louis Cardinals team before their ace returns.

Since being sent down in mid-April, Shaw has substantially improved at Triple-A. He has elevated his batting average to .286 and boasts an impressive OPS of .969. He also has six home runs and a much-improved plate discipline with more walks than strikeouts.
