Hurricane Erin, the first of the 2025 Atlantic season, is forecast to become a major storm this weekend, bringing heavy rain, flooding risk, and dangerous surf to parts of the Caribbean and western Atlantic.

Erin is now a hurricane and the National Hurricane Center is expecting the hurricane to become a category four storm by early next week before turning north. North Florida or South Georgia will NOT impacts from Erin.

Erin became the first Atlantic hurricane of the year on Friday morning as it churned toward Caribbean islands. The storm had winds of 75 mph by 11 a.m. Eastern, according to the National Hurricane Center.
