Every NFL season ushers in brand-new rookie players coming out of college and elsewhere. Naturally, the rookies are involved in some light hazing that includes horrible haircuts, carrying equipment, and the ever-popular insanely priced dinner bill.

The rookie was left stunned after a prank played by his teammates at a team dinner on Thursday night. The prank, which has become a lighthearted tradition for rookies in the NFL, involved Murphy being handed a dinner bill that appeared to total a jaw-dropping $155,788.77, including a hefty $23,000 tip.

For a brief moment Thursday night, Seattle Seahawks rookie defensive lineman Byron Murphy II thought he needed to pick up a side gig. Seahawks linebacker Uchenna Nwosu and a few teammates pranked Murphy at a team dinner by handing him the bill to cover,

Geno Smith knows what is at stake entering the Seahawks' season finale, but he isn't going to chase incentives at the expense of his team winning.

Which, yes, means that in the shadows of Hollywood, Smith on Sunday could be referred to as having a chance to play the role of the $6 million man. The incentives are part of a three-year contract he signed in March 2023. That deal initially was reported to be worth up to $105 million over three years.

For one thing, there's a lot of money on the line in potential bonuses for head coach Mike Macdonald and his players. Macdonald told reporters earlier this week he'll be playing his starters in an effort to get that 10th win of the season.
