Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin is preparing for "new offensive operations."

For Mr Putin the summit in Alaska is a victory in itself, a sign of Russia’s great-power status. He believes that the conflict in Ukraine is really a proxy war started by the West and has craved a meeting at which America and Russia divide their spheres of influence,

Whether the U.S.-Russia summit can lead to a deal to produce peace in Ukraine more than 3 1/2 years after Moscow’s invasion remains to be seen.
