England has continued its mastery of the West Indies by winning their Twenty20 series opener by 21 runs in Chester-le-Street

On a chilly evening in Durham, England’s Twenty20 side played with a coherence and nous that they have lacked since winning the 2022 World Cup. But, for all the glimpse of a new team taking shape, England’s 21-run victory over West Indies was underpinned by two men in their mid-30s.

Former captain Jos Buttler scored a superb 96 off 59 balls, and Liam Dawson took four wickets on his international return, as England beat West Indies by 21 runs in the T20 series opener at Durham's Riverside ground on Friday.
