Consumer Reports is online, but not free. The only downside is they tend to be a bit behind on reviews.... since, you know, they have to buy and then rate them.

This is a good idea, and I wish consumer reports let users download more raw data. Like the dozens of mattress spine alignment measurements that are averaged to give a score, or other raw numbers, or score everything 1-100 instead of 1-5.

Jul 25, 2023 · Consumer Reports has always been on the Behr/Toyota/Honda/LG bandwagon. Benjamin Moore will always beat Behr, Toyota is the new GM, Honda just isn’t what they were in the 1990s-early 2000s, LG is better than Samsung but disposable. Consumer Reports is rock solid - I’ve used it for decades to buy reliable cars and other products. I’ve also filled out their surveys on a variety of products. That being said the GV models are only out a couple of years. Mine is only 8 months old (2023 2.5 Sports Prestige), but so far so good. Nov 11, 2022 · Consumer reports is kind of bs nowadays. Whenever I see people who are washer/dryer repairmen on Reddit talk about them they say stay away from Samsung/lg like the plague. And usually recommend whirlpool/Maytag etc

Here's the rub: The top 6 machines on Consumer Reports are LG machines, and LG also is at the top of their brand reliability ratings. But the repair guy said, "whatever you do, don't get an LG. Or a Samsung." (this is just a repair person, by the way. He doesn't sell appliances, just fixes them.)

I've had products that were excellent that consumer reports said were terrible. I've also bought things based on great Consumer reports reviews, and they turned out to be junk.
